If Motivation Is Dead… Try This Tiny Trick

Hello Reader,
βœ‰οΈ Monday Momentum #27

Heya Fit Travel Tribe,

Our momentum today to kick off this week will be all about this simple yet huge challenge of traveling:
β€‹πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰Sticking to a ROUTINE!

πŸŽ‰SMALL STEPS + CONSISTENCY = SUCCESSπŸŽ‰

As I continuously bounce around, I reminded again that you don’t need a perfect life to create progress.

You just need one tiny routine you stick to.

I was reflecting on this when visiting friends this week. My two friends (as well as their son) do at least a 5 minute stretch every morning. Same video. No bells, no whistles, no β€œnew year new me,” no overthinking.

Just a tiny routine they decided was important.

For HUNDREDS OF DAYS in a row....they are able to be THAT consistent.

And honestly? It humbled me.

We spend so much time waiting for the β€œright season,” the β€œright energy,” the β€œright motivation.”

But sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is show up for 5 minutes and call it a win.

So today I'm giving you:

βœ… Practical tips for sticking with a healthy routine on the road (or at home)
βœ… My favorite travel fitness app (requiring zero to little equipment)
βœ… The SECRET to cheap last minute flights!
πŸ“ Wine + hiking destination you've never considered

Let's rollπŸ‘‡

🌟Notes from the Fit Travel Trail

πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹Here's a BIG "hello" from the United States! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Currently I'm in Richmond, MD visiting two wonderful travel friends!
πŸ‘‰I'm staying just outside DC and I'm in the States until....actually...I don't know exactly when. Most likely mid-December...

🚨🚨Usually I get out my newsletter by 4pm EST (easier with the time change when I'm in Europe), but today has been super busy and eventful! Including new friend who got me into a gym for FREE. Of course I jumped on the chance.

Since you last heard from me...
I had a full week in Skopje and then a handful of days of chaos (in the most on-brand way).

Here’s the highlight reel:

  • ✈️ Monday: Returned from Skopje β†’ Immediately had paperwork at 6:30pm
Thankfully my Bulgarian partner signs off saying he's my "official translator" haha

  • ⏰ 8:00pm: Booked a flight for the NEXT MORNING at 6:00am
Was it necessary? YES. (though I didn't love the idea of it)
Did I pack? I mean...I hadn't event unpacked from Skopje...
Did I get it for $62? ALSO YES (credit card wizardry in the Thrifty section).

  • πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Flew to DC for visa paperwork β€” dropped it off (hallelujah), now I’m killing time with travel friends while waiting for pickup. Pickup WAS the day before Thanksgiving. But part of today's craziness was getting a call, fixing an issue, and now getting to pick it up tomorrow. WAHOO!

  • πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ Tons of social time β€” relaxing, working, exploring new neighborhoods, eating good food, savoring this crisp East Coast autumn.

  • πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Been teaching yoga to friends which reminds me how much I love sharing different exercises and flows (especially when it's NEW to someone I'm teaching)

  • πŸš— Tomorrow: Off to Richmond, VA β€” brand new city for me. You know I’m excited to explore, walk, and try a cute new coffee shop. I'm even hoping to make a new walking tour since it's unlisted currently.

  • πŸ‘€ Big adult life things happening in Sofia (once paperwork is actually finalized, I'll share more).

πŸ“HACK YOUR PSYCHOLOGY - find motivation to actually workout

Why is it SO difficult to find motivation to exercise (in general) especially while traveling??

Your real enemy isn’t laziness!

It’s your brain trying to conserve energy the second your routine disappears.

Here’s the truth: you don’t need a 30-day program to change your life. You don’t need a perfect schedule. You don’t need your β€œnormal” environment.

You just need one routine you can stick to anywhere β€” airport floors, hostel bunks, your partner’s parents’ living room, or whatever chaos the week brings.

Learn more about WHY your motivation dips on a trip + 5 no-BS strategies to execute.

For me, personally??

It's my Les Mills workouts requiring zero to no equipment. Besides teaching the classes and having the routines memorized, they have a fantastic Les Mills On Demand app, streaming hundreds of different styles of workout.

Paired with my portable workout equipment of choice (travel yoga mat, resistance band, and sliders)...I have TONS of fun, effective options.

(πŸ‘‰btw this is NOT sponsored + they might have a Black Friday deal to snag!)

But even when I'm feeling low-energy? I'll just do a simple 10 minute stretch :)

✈️πŸ’ͺWhere Travel & Fitness Converge

πŸ“Let’s talk about Georgia β€” the country, not the peaches.

My friend John and I were swapping stories this week, and honestly? Georgia might be one of the most underrated hiking destinations in the entire world.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ͺ Mountains that look like Patagonia.
πŸ‡ Wine culture that started thousands of years ago.
πŸŒ„ Villages that feel frozen in time.
πŸ₯Ύ Trails for every fitness level β€” from β€œI want a gentle walk” to β€œI want to question my life choices.”

Top Georgian Hikes to Consider:

  • Kazbegi / Stepantsminda β€” the classic, iconic postcard views
  • Tusheti National Park β€” remote, rugged, breathtaking
  • Svaneti (Mestia β†’ Ushguli) β€” medieval towers + snow-capped mountains
  • Borjomi-Kharagauli NP β€” super accessible and lush
  • Vashlovani β€” desert landscapes you’d never expect

🍷Georgia is the kind of place where you can hike all day and drink wine all night.

If you need a place where travel + fitness intersect perfectly, put Georgia on your list!

πŸ˜“βœˆAre last-minute flights ALWAYS crazy expensive??

NOPE!!

How last-minute have I now booked a flight?
πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰Within 10 hours of departure.

A bit stressful and chaotic?! YES!!!
But also… 10/10 financially responsible chaos.

Huh, how could that be???

CREDIT CARD HACKING!!!

I'm running through another "annual cycle" of credit card churning.
Basically: Signing up for a new card, putting money on it, getting the big signup bonus (70k points), and then a year later either cancelling or downgrading it.

It's that simple.

I align the new credit card with a larger expense (such as a new laptop on Cyber Monday) and just keep track of card anniversaries in my calendar. It's ALL about being ORGANIZED (and paying your balance in full each month).

Points come in handy especially for emergencies (like my recent last-minute flight).

Here's my real life example from last week:

SCENARIO: Monday evening at 8pm, I booked a one-way United flight from Sofia to Washington DC for 6am the next morning.

Paying with CASH

$850

Paying with POINTS

44k points +$62

By spending normally, paying off my balance in full, and using these credit card hacks...I saved HUNDREDS of dollars!

And YOU CAN TOO!

Always on my mind: More money for more travel! It's often worth a little homework for those savings πŸ’Έ

You don't rise to the level of your goals.

You fall to the level of your routines.
