Hello Reader, Howdy Fit Travel Tribe! In today's Monday Momentum, I was inspired to talk about food & leftovers while traveling and it turned into a FULL BLOG POST on mindful eating. See below 👇👇👇 ....for travel time. Do you crave the thrill of constant movement, or does the idea of planting roots and settling in feel like the real adventure? For the past year, I’ve been in transition—bouncing between places, soaking up experiences, and navigating the limitations of visas and time zones. But now, as I head home (to my new home), I realize something surprising: stability feels just as exciting as spontaneity. Sometimes our travel pace is influenced by our limited time. When you take away the limits, you’re left with only your true preferences. What would your perfect balance of adventure and home look like? I’ve been forced to test these questions in real time, and in my next section, I’ll share what I’ve learned from this past year of movement. But for now, let’s flip the question to YOU: Today is my last full day in Türkiye and, I have to admit....as much as I love travel, I am SO beyond excited to go home to Sofia! Can I be honest? I've been in limbo... In essence, for the last year, I've been doing a lot of travel and transitioning to my new life in Sofia. I've taken some amazing trips and, I realized I visited 27 different cities (even if just for a night; yes I counted haha). And that's outside of Bulgaria and when I've stopped back in NJ to see family. I know my limbo states derives itself primarily from this one word: My intention is to settle in Sofia. If my intention was to long-term travel, I think I'd still be riding the high...for at least a little longer. (I'm also laughing that my intention was to go to Cappadocia, yet clearly that didn't pan out haha) 🤣 I'm more-or-less taking these vacations because I'm getting booted out of the Schengen area. (I can only be in the Schengen area for 90 days out of 180 days and I'm using all of that time to be in Bulgaria). Also, I'll get to look ahead at the FULL year and think Speaking of TRAVEL, if I were to be traveling long term, I'd have spent more time in Bali as well as HERE in Kaş, Türkiye. I heard from multiple Turkish friends "omg - Kaş is amazing." 🤩🤩🤩 And I have to say, I'll need to follow up with every. single. one. of. them. and say "yes, you were RIGHT!" I've now been to about 9 different spots in Türkiye 🇹🇷 It feels like a mix of Greece and Madeira Island in Portugal (from my initial impression). Some more photos from the road... Story time...SERIOUSLY hot off the press from just the other day... In this scenario, between all of the bites and sips and sitting out the random rain shower in the afternoon, I had an epiphany of a topic I wanted to discuss with YOU ALL. Writing notes in the newsletter...YADA YADA YADA ...Struggling to parse it down since i had so much to say...YADA YADA YADA then BOOM! 💣💥 This turned into a full-on blog post! Food + Travel. There’s a lot to say, but I was truly inspired by just one word: LEFTOVERS! Leftovers are actually very common in America. If anything, we plan for them. There are multiple reasons why you maybe incentivized to NOT take home food after you are no longer hungry (notice, I didn't say until you're "full," since there's a difference). Especially when you're abroad! This may lead to overeating on accident, and that's totally understandable. In order to manage this you just need to first understand WHY you are doing it. Then comes the difficult part: managing your emotions around it and making another decision. WHY is it so easy to overeat? Time to dive into the psychology of food and learn practical strategies!
This is now on my "holy crap I want to do that" list - (sorry, mom - I'll tell you after I've done it). The Via Ferrata on Mt. Kinabalu in Malaysia Craving adrenaline and epic views?
