Your backpack is ruining your posture (here's the fix) πŸŽ’

Hello Reader,
βœ‰οΈ Monday Momentum #20

Heya Fit Travel Tribe,

On today's Monday Momentum, I want to talk about something that's literally weighing us all down...

πŸŽ’ Your backpack is sabotaging your postureπŸŽ’

As I wrapped up my Balkans tour, I noticed my posture slipping β€” and I was only carrying a small (and very sweaty) daypack!

We lean forward, hunch the neck, round the back… and over time, our skeleton follows suit. But remember β€” your bones only move because your muscles tell them to.

GOOD NEWS: You can re-train your posterior chain and core.

3 Posture Fixes to do NOW:

βœ…
Find a budget-friendly backpack (one that works with you, not against you)
βœ…
Adjust it properly (straps, belts, the works!)
βœ…
Spend 5 minutes a day activating key muscles (super simple tutorial below)

Let's goπŸ‘‡

🌟Notes from the Fit Travel Trail

A big excited & happy HELLO from Bulgaria!

I'm back home in Sofia after 6 weeks of blitzing around 15 cities in the Balkans! (WOW!!)

Here are some highlights from the last two weeks in Bosnia and Serbia:

  • πŸ€— Visited an old Couchsurfing friend in Novi Sad (my host from 2 years ago!)
  • 🍷 5 nights in Belgrade (my host spoiled me with honey rakia - my fav!)
  • ✈ Quick, happy flight HOME to Sofia (I was counting the days)
  • ❀ Cozy weekend staycation with my partner (very much needed)

As happy as I am to be home....in all honesty....I'm struggling a little 😭

I think with the bouncing in and out of Sofia (without my visa D), that, besides being tired of traveling, the lack of stability is starting to emphasize another feeling: a feeling of not belonging.

It's tough being a foreigner living in another country. I've always felt this, but perhaps it's starting to get on my nerve a bit more all of the little things.

Ex: Like seeing the same staff at an establishment, me saying hello in Bulgarian, and them responding back in English because they know me. It's like a little voice saying I'll never fit in.

❀❀ Thankfully my partner is very supportive.
I'm also certain the heaviness of this feeling is compounded by just being straight up TIRED of traveling!

Just squeezing out one photo this edition. Only one that matters at the moment.

Thursday, we head to the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria! Long weekend in Sunny Beach for my birthday.πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

πŸ“ Croatian Island Hiking - beyond Dubrovnik and onto the islands πŸ₯ΎπŸ’ͺ

Think Croatia is just about island hopping for lounging the beaches? NOPE! Head there for some great hikes, too!

What's makes hiking on Croatia islands more enjoyable is that most of these hikes are reasonably short and quite easy, so you can pick them off as leisurely day walks.

Did you know that Croatia has 700+ islands?

Here are THE 3 BEST islands for hikes:

πŸ‘‰ Mljet – Home to Mljet National Park, where trails wind through pine forests, past saltwater lakes, and up to viewpoints like Montokuc for sweeping Adriatic views.

πŸ‘‰ Brač – Climb Vidova Gora, the highest peak of any Croatian island, with a panoramic payoff that includes Zlatni Rat beach and the neighboring islands.

πŸ‘‰ Hvar – Beyond its party reputation, Hvar offers quiet inland trails through lavender fields, old stone villages, and coastal ridges with postcard-worthy scenery.

Check out more on HVAR island!

πŸŽ’ Quick Budget Backpack Guide πŸ’ͺ

You’re going to carry this thing everywhere. So, make sure it's perfect!!! This is true whether you're getting a travel backpack, hiking backpack, or a smaller day pack.

Besides comfort and size... you also want to consider your WALLET!

Backpacking without breaking the bank?
➑➑ Make sure you pick the right pack for you

 πŸ” Before buying ANY backpack:

  • Adjustable, padded straps (save your shoulders!)
  • Water-resistant fabric (rain happens)
  • Multiple compartments (stay organized + easy access)

πŸ’‘ My budget-friendly backpack tips:

  • Try before you buy β€” load it up in-store to check comfort
  • Look for last season’s models β€” big discounts, same quality
  • Opt for under 40L β€” fits carry-on rules, no baggage fees

🀩 BONUS TRAVEL HACK: Come prepared with…

  • Packing cubes β€” keep gear tidy & compress clothes
  • Carabiner clip β€” hang wet shoes or water bottle outside your bag

Always on my mind: More money for more travel! It's often worth a little homework for those savings πŸ’Έ
